		<description>Maybe because we no longer have to kill and eat animals, our protective instincts are more likely to misfire over them. I&#039;ve read that people in primitive tribes that still rely on hunting treat animals terribly. They don&#039;t seem to experience the same kind of affection towards them that we do.</description>

Could male affinity for pets be related to their sociosexuality? More specifically, men who primarily use short-term mating strategies may have less interest in pets than men who primarily use long-term mating strategies. Perhaps?</description>
