However female circumcision, to many cultures is considered taboo, becuase the female gains nothing from this! some maay disagree.this is when cross-cultural perspective plays an important role. this perspective states that common behaviors are not always practiced, or known world wide. Also, this has been morally accepted by cultures for years. Cross-cultural psychology shows the effects of one's culture on behavior and mental processes. So, because they were raised to think that this is okay and also brought up around like-minded people they automatically think that circumcision is okay on a newborn. Female circumcision is not acceptable to these people because most people are raised to think that women are more delicate than men therefore the thought of circumcision on a newborn girl is much more cruel than on a baby boy. Thus, this topic for most people is a result of cross-cultural psychology.
